Hi from Joe, WB6TFD
I operate from Newark California. I am a life long California resident. I am a member of SABARA, the South Bay Amateur Radio Association, and a member of the ARRL.
I was first licensed as KG6YZG, a no code tech on May 6, 2005 and then on September 5, 2006 I passed my element 3, but did not pass my element 1. On February 26, 2007 I did a paper only upgrade to General class, as the FCC eliminated the element 1 requirement for Generals.
I work in the Touch Screen Technology field here in the Silicon Valley and have worked for the same company for 38 years.
I am very active on SSB 17,20, 40 and 80 meters. I really enjoy chasing DX and also like to just rag chew.
My station consists of an Icom 756 PROII, the mic is stock. My secondary rig is a Icom 756 PRO and my amp is a 1KW, HL-1.5 K fx from Tokyo High-Power . My main antenna is a HY-GAIN DX-77 10-40 meter vertical and for 80 meters I use a Alpha Delta Model DX-OCF-HP Off-Center-Fed 7 Band Antenna 75/80, 40, 20, 17, 12, & 10 meters by Buckmaster Antennas.
I also operate a Yasue FT 897D on 2 meters simplex 146.520 FM and on 144.230 SSB.
I use my Icom 756 PRO for DX’ing on 6 meters 50.125 MHz, (SSB). In my spare time I like to work on and drive my 1976 M151A2 military jeep and my 1951 M-38 military jeep. I have 6 meter military radio’s on board just for fun.
My hobbies are ham radio, military radio collecting and collecting military vehicles and equipment.
I look forward to working you and exchanging QSL cards.
